This President’s Day Weekend, See the Circus at Westchester County Center and Join the Circus at The Harvey School!

What an exciting start to the school break with the circus! Don’t miss our friends, The Royal Hanneford Circus, performing right in our backyard at the Westchester County Center.

Plus, after soaking up all that inspiration, the kids can join Westchester Circus Arts for a Winter Circus Weekend where they’ll get to experience the magic firsthand.

A Royal Hanneford Circus Performer is a Former Westchester Circus Arts Student

Royal Hanneford Circus performer We are thrilled to share with you an exclusive interview with Katie O’Toole, a former student of Westchester Circus Arts, who has blossomed into a professional circus artist. Katie’s journey from student to performer is truly inspiring, and we couldn’t be prouder of her accomplishments.

Here’s a glimpse into our conversation with Katie:

How did training with Westchester Circus Arts prepare you for the professional arena?

Katie: “Westchester Circus Arts introduced me to aerial silks, and after a few classes, I was hooked. All the instructors I worked with through the years have always pushed me to develop and grow as an aerialist. Participating in the student showcase gave me the confidence I needed to perform at a professional level.”

How do you balance your day job while “moonlighting” as a professional circus artist?

Katie: “Performing as an aerialist helps me keep balance in my life. After working a 40+ hour work week as an engineer, I need to do something that is completely different from my day job so I can reset and remain productive.”

What do you most love about performing?

Katie: “I love live performances because I can feed off the crowd’s energy. I love catching glimpses of the audience’s faces, especially when I am doing a drop.”

Any words of wisdom for our younger performers-in-training?

Katie: “Take advantage of the time you have when you are training. Every second counts. Also, take your time. (That is something I am still working on too).”

What are some of the exciting acts audience members can expect with this upcoming show at County Center?

Katie: “The show at the Westchester County Center is one of the bigger shows that the Royal Hanneford does, so you can expect an exciting show. They will have other aerialists and showgirls, clowns, dogs, ponies, horse acrobatics, tramp wall, and more.”

We are incredibly proud to see Katie shine in her career as a circus artist. Her dedication, talent, and passion serve as an inspiration to us all.
